In the beginning...

Ever since I was a little girl, I always dreamed about being a part of something bigger than myself. I felt the desire and drive to live a meaningful and purposeful life. In 2013, I earned my Master's degree in counseling with the goal of becoming a school counselor. I eventually found myself in the field of disability services where I help students with disabilities access resources, services, and accommodations they needed in their educational programs and experiences. Not too long after establishing my career, my husband and I started our family, and we have now been blessed with our two beautiful children.

Then the pandemic hit...

In 2021, my son was diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. We experienced a whirlwind of challenges during that time. On the heals of the pandemic, I was burnt out, trying to manage my career, parenting, and now the added struggle of caregiving a child with special needs. I dealt with major anxiety and depression and felt completely inadequate as a parent. My days were often filled with tears, and I was living in survival mode. The situation became so overwhelming that I had to take an eight month leave of absence from my job. My husband was working long shifts to sustain us, and I felt utterly alone in my struggles.

Being a parent, caregiver and trying to work a 9-5 was nearly impossible...

Managing my child's behaviors felt insurmountable- the constant meltdowns, limited communication, and poor sleep seemed never-ending. I had lost my identity in who I was meant to be, and how to mange it all. I participated in online support groups and therapy, but did not see much of a break through. The financial strain and my feelings of inadequacy as a parent deepened my depression, and the road to improvement was still unclear.

Finally, I Recommitted My Life to Jesus!

I hit rock bottom one night, sitting in my son's room, feeling helpless and unable to continue. In that moment of desperation, I prayed to God, seeking His help. Numbers and verses came to mind: Psalms 40:1 and Ephesians 1:4. As I read these verses, I realized Jesus had been with me all along. I burst into tears and recommitted my life to Jesus in that moment. I decide I would live for Him and wanted to fulfill His will in my life. I soon realized my story wasn't unique—many other autism parents face similar struggles. I wasn't alone, and I was destined to make a difference.

My Life Transformed... And Yours Can Too!

From that moment on, I started growing my faith and relationship with Jesus Christ. I sought and fought hard for resources for myself in the workplace and in schools and the community for my autistic child. Leaning on Jesus was crucial to my success. Inviting Jesus into my struggles massively improved every area of my life, improved my parenting skills, and healed me from my depression and anxiety. My life transformed—I found inner strength, purpose, and peace, and I finally experienced relief. Hope for my family's future blossomed, and I realized my true purpose was beyond my current position. These experiences have now inspired me to help empower other parents of autistic children transform their lives through a faith based perspective.
